Whitney went to the doctor today has progressed by having more contractions. Doc said that they'll induce labor on Monday if she doesn't deliver by then.
It'd be a real shame if she goes into labor this weekend as this was the weekend that I was going to clean my house from top to bottom. Yeah, that would really suck. :)
BRING IT ON!

SOMEONE, not mentioning any names (because I don't know her name yet) apparently didn't get my message. I mean, c'mon...really!
Little missy, please make your grand entrance into this world soon! You're cooking a little to long in there, and we don't want you to get over done. Not to mention that the longer you bake, the bigger you get, and well, that's not exactly going to make your mama happy!

Hey, you...where are you? Here I sit. I have my bag packed with my camera, a book, and my laptop...well, not really since I'm typing this on it right now, but you know what I mean.
Woah, I just thought of something; when your cousin Jacob was born (14 years ago), I didn't have a computer, let alone a laptop, I had a camera that used FILM, and only a phone in my home that I'd have to be glued to if I were awaiting an important phone call. But now I have a cell phone, and it even has a camera IN IT, so I can take a picture of your sweet self and send it along to anyone who can't be there at your birth, that is, if you'd be born already!
I know that your mommy wants you to be born, too, because now that you're 2 days overdue, she's a bit beside herself. You'll understand one day when you're a mommy, but let's not think about that for at least 25 years, OK? Promise?
Let me see...you're going to have 5 aunts who are going to spoil you rotten! We range in age from 39 (wow, she's an old one) down to about 14. So, we're all going to be able to teach you so much because we are all so different. You also have one uncle, and goodness knows that I'm going to do my best to change that sometime in your young lifetime!
You're very lucky to have 3 sets of grandparents; the more to love you, I always say! And spoil you, of course. Since you are the first grand baby on your dad's side of your family, and the first granddaughter on your mom's side, you're in a very fortunate position indeed! Just take my word for it. Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled!
You have one great grand parent on your mom's side. He talks kind of funny because he's from Scotland, as is your mom's mom. You also have great grandparents on your dad's mom's side (got that?) and I know that you're going to bring joy to all of them.
And your mom? She's super smart and loves to read, and I know she's going to spend hours upon hours reading to you. You'll come to really appreciate that when you're older. And your dad, he's pretty handy, and loves to be on the computer, so you'll probably be typing keyboarding before you can write, and will play all kinds of games that will help you to grow into the genius that I know you will be.
I remember when your mom was born. I was too young to drive, so couldn't go see her right after she was born, but that day I was at a hot air balloon festival, and was working on a cross stitch picture of a little girl on a swing that could hang in her room. Well, I never did finish it, much like I have yet to finish the rest of the project I started for your room, but I'll do it, I promise! I have to, right, because I just told you that I would. So, yeah, it'll happen.
Your mom was so cute. She was a little ham. When she was still in a baby carrier, so I'd say about 9 months old, Papa C. brought her to my basketball game when I was in middle school, and she could sing almost of the Michigan cheer "Let's Go Blue" and impressed the heck out of the kids that were there. Then there was the time that your Aunt Darcie and I brought our boyfriends over to Gramma and Papa C's house, and your mom proceeded to unzip her PJ's and strip down to her diaper, all the while loving the attention. We laughed (LOL'd, even thought it wasn't called LOL'ing at that time). So, I'm probably in trouble now for writing that, but hopefully your mom has other things on her mind right now and won't catch it. :)
Well, little niece, I'm off to bed, and hoping for a call any minute now that you're on your way into the world.
See ya soon!
Love ya tons,
Aunt Brooke

As my sister and her husband were celebrating their first wedding anniversary this month, we were busy planning their baby shower.
I created this invitation for their baby girl's shower. I took my inspiration from the bedding they have chosen from babygap.com. It has graphic flowers and shapes in shades of raspberry and chocolate. Yum! Since their wedding invitation was in similar colors, I used a flower from it to create the wallpaper in the baby shower invitation. I thought it added a special touch.
We are anxiously awaiting the birth of the first niece in our family in mid September!

My mom, Sue!
My mom lives in Florida, close to Orlando, with her husband Tom. We don't get to see them as much as we used to, when Jacob was younger and we'd take off for a week at a time to visit the Grandparents and Mickey.
Mom retired this year after her heart surgery. I'm glad to report that she's been keeping busy with sewing, card making, and other crafty stuff. I don't know for sure what it is, but she's sending me something special to go with new furniture I got last week-(Yay!). She's also back to playing golf, and I'm so happy! She wasn't sure if she'd be able to play for awhile there, but she's plugging along. I know she gets tired when she plays, but I'm proud of her for getting out there.
My mom has always been an early riser and a hard worker. I don't know how much longer she would have worked if she hadn't had her surgery. She probably didn't know what she'd do with herself. But now that she's been forced to take it easy, she's enjoying the time she has to be creative.
My sister and I sent her a new toy for her birthday to help her make cards, and I added a boatload of papers and embellishments to the package that I 'shopped for' in my closet. I thought she might be in need of supplies, but when I talked to her today, she told me that she has a Cricut of all things! I'm JEALOUS! So, I think she's doing well in the tool department. Anyway, I had fun picking out all of the handmade papers and embellishments, and she had fun opening the package and looking through all of her goodies.
I inherited my love of creating from my mom and her mom. Grandma will be the subject of a whole other post. I have some really good pictures of my sister and I in matching outfits that my mom sewed. That was back in the 70's, so you know we were stylin' :) She was into macrame for awhile and crocheted and circular rug out of jute for under our kitchen table.
Her partner in crime was our neighbor Carrie, and together they'd scheme to make things and take them up to the bowling ally to sell. First it was tote bags with appliques (I had one with a kite on it), then it was hand poured chocolates. It was around Easter that they planned to sell a ton of chocolates. In a fit of inspiration, us four daughters (me, my sister Darcie, and Carrie's daughters Dawn and Diane) stayed up all night pouring chocolates as a surprise. The next morning my mom came downstairs to a counter full of finished chocolates, and probably to four forms passed out on the family room floor.
One of my favorite things that my mom made for me was an angel that hung on the wall in my bedroom. She used the nightgown she wore in the hospital when I was born to make the body and head of the angel, and one of my dad's shirts to make the hair. It was very special and now I'm hoping that it is packed safely away somewhere so that I can take a picture of it to keep. Unfortunately it's probably in the garage from when I moved her about 10 years ago. Fortunately, if it's damaged at all, I can PhotoShop it back to it's original glory, if only in a picture.
I could go on and on, I'm sure, about the things that my mom has made for me over the years, but I'll stop for now.
Mom, thanks for all that you've done for me and Jacob and for instilling a love of do-it-yourself projects and craftiness in me.
Love you!
Brooke
